sports abound

Sorry for the lack of interesting (or any) tv posts lately - it's been a very busy sports filled week. The Yankees sweep the Red Sox and I was at 2 of 3 of those games, the first of which was highlighted by extracurricular entertainment in the form of squirrel atop the foul pole near my seats - the squirrel is famous, it even made it onto the back cover of the Daily News the next day!

I don't have much else to report, other than the fact that I think Jessica and Eric are totally adorable, though I very much question Eric's decision not to use the Power of Veto.

Well, off to start my extra long weekend which will start tomorrow (yay for a day off from work!) in the form of a trip to the aquarium with the kids and then shopping at the outlets! And so I shall return along with Big Brother at the end of the weekend. Happy Labor Day!

big girls don't cry

Another season of The Hills is back and oh how I've missed my MTV! This season, Lauren and Heidi's friendship is in the gutter, Heidi's too busy playing house with Spencer to care and Lauren is now rommies with Audrina, whose boyfriend is some weirdo named Justin. And the drama! There's lots of drama and lots of cat fighting and lots of everyone being upset about the fights but too stubborn to cry about it. Good times.

beer pong!

Big Brother won my heart this week by revolving the episode and mainly the food competition around my favorite drinking pasttime - beer pong! Oh, how I miss my college days thinking about the fun of beer pong... seems like just last month that I played. Wait, was that last month? No, no, it wasn't... I think it's been a solid 5 or 6 months since my last game of beer pong. heehee. In any case, Danielle is HoH AGAIN and I think it is very, very dangerous for Jessica and Eric to be aligning themselves with Danielle and Dick, but we shall see how this plays out. I sense that Jen has at long last worn out her welcome, so is it possible that after weeks of flip flopping, she finally goes home?

We're getting close to entering a difficult month for me... the overlap month of regular season football colliding with the last month of regular season baseball... and thus there goes any chance of me doing anthing but watching sports and following the pennant race very, very closely. Bye-bye social life!

ahh...friday!

It's been a long week filled with crazy things at work, outings after work, storms, tornadoes and long commutes and so nobody is happier than I am to be home in pajamas on this chilly friday night parked on my couch in front of the tv. The very busy week also means that I haven't had much time for tv, BUT I have managed to keep up with Big Brother because that show is SO entertaining and I would just like to say that I am ecstatic that Jessica won Head of Household and especially that it happened so brilliantly. Genius! It's fabulous tv - get on it!

Burning in the Bronx

Burning hot that is... that's what it was today at Yankee Stadium. And when I got home I discovered I may have gotten myself a nice little sunburn. oops.

Speaking of burning, I continued watching The Bronx is Burning tonight when I got home. I gotta say, I'm not all that enthralled with this miniseries - the book was WAY better, so read it!

More entertaining to watch is Big Brother. And if you have SHO, on Showtime Too every night from minight to 3 AM there is a live feed called Big Brother: After Dark!

creative genius

Summer tv has peaked in the form of Big Brother 8. I would like to thank the creative geniuses at CBS behind this show for coming up with a show so ridiculously entertaining it is simply fabulous. This week's food challenge came in the form of "Mission InPastaBowl" (HAHA!) where the house guests dove into giant pools of spaghetti and meatballs in teams in an effort to match up the meatballs with the same name foods.

On to the people aspect, I feel incredibly sorry for Danielle, hate her dad, don't understand how it's possible for Amber to cry as much as she does, and think that Jen staring at her own reflection in a spoon clearly sums up her personality. I cannot get enough of this amazingly ridiculous show!

burning... part one.

"I'm the straw that stirs the drink."

I finally finished the book I've been reading, Ladies and Gentlemen, The Bronx is Burning, and thus I am moving on to watching the miniseries on ESPN which I've been recording. The book rocked and it'll be interesting to watch it come to life on tv.

The first episode focuses on the Yankees bringing Reggie Jackson to New York for the 1977 season. Played by Danel Sunjata, Reggie's got the big hair, big glasses and tight pants to fit the bill. They somehow managed to enlarge John Turturro's ears to fit the role of Billy Martin and Oliver Platt donned a really terrible hairdo to play the part of George Steinbrenner. Being that those are the three main characters, ESPN has somehow managed to make it impossible to talk these guys seriously, but adds incredible entertainment value to the show.

Aside from the ongoing strife between Steinbrenner and Martin, Martin and Jackson, and Jackson and everyone, the episode is also sprinkled with the Son of Sam's rampage, the Beame administration and Jason Giambi's cameo as a NYC cab driver.

The REAL Reggie Jackson claims that he never made the comment about being the straw that stirs the drink... the media claims otherwise. Will anyone ever know the truth?

slop.

I caught up on Big Brother tonight and can't get over how ridiculous and entertaining this show is. Commentary:

- Why does Amber cry so damn much? That's ALL she does.
- Why is Jen so freakin' obnoxious? Worst Head of Household EVER.
- There needs to be cuter boys in the house.
- Jessica has GOT TO GO.

Bundles of entertainment all around - loved the Name That Pie competition!!
