gossip update

Okay, so first of all: Celebrity Duets SUCKED. Baseball was rained out but I still could not even bring myself to sit through all of this most awful show. Aside from the fact that I could not even readily identify half of the "celebrities" competing on this show, it was just very poorly done and very awful to watch. Instead I did manage to land upon 101 Guiltiest Guilty Pleasures on E!and it was remarkably entertaining. (Guilty Pleasure #78: Boy Bands. Yes I'm guilty.)

To satisfy my celebrity gossip fix, I feel compelled to inform you that apparently Matt Leinart, previously linked to a variety of random "celebrities" including Laguna Beach cast members, has apparently knocked up a USC basketball player. I gotta say, she's kinda hot, but there is just something very disturbing about him becoming a father.

I'm not even going to comment on the supposed Jessica Simpson-John Mayer relationship, because it is really just incredibly unsettling to think about. Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo on the other hand...oh who am I kidding, that one is even more unsettling.

they can't be serious

Just when you thought you've seen it all, reality tv reaches another all-time low. So first there was Dancing With the Stars (which I love). Then there was Skating with Celebrities (which I did not love). And now...there's Celebrity Duets. No, seriously. Pseudo celebrities such as Jai Rodriguez from Queer Eye and Alfonso Ribiero from Fresh Prince of Bel Air are paired up with the likes of Chaka Khan and Lee Ann Womack (a different singer every week), and then we vote! It is going to be AWFUL. Apparently this show is the brain child of our very own Simon Cowell. Out of sheer curiosity (and duty as a dedicated reality tv watcher), I will be checking out the premiere tonight between innings of baseball and will report back on the sheer atrocity of it all.

i heart kiefer

Life is good. Kiefer won for Best Actor in a drama series, and 24 won for best drama series. I swear I can't even explain the outrage that would have ensued if 24 didn't finally get its props after getting SCREWED by the Emmys year after year. Justice is finally served! It was a good thing, because it was a happy ending to what was otherwise a relatively mediocre Emmys show, saved only (barely) by the fact that Conan was hosting.

Some highlights/lowlights:
* Opening montage by Conan: Really funny, but was I the only one that thought it was just a little awkward doing the plane crash snippet from Lost after the news earlier in the day about the Kentucky plane crash?
* Stephen Colbert: Totally got robbed! And very classily called out the fact that of all things, he lost to Barry freakin Manilow. heehee.
* The Amazing Race: Four straight Emmys! I love the show very much and all, but someday Project Runway will get its share of Emmy Love.
* Heidi Klum: The woman is HOT! How does one look so damn good even when preggers?
*Tribute to Dick Clark: Okay, this just made me kind of sad. Poor Dick Clark. You can't not love this man, and it just makes you sad to see him in the shape he's in.
* Tribute to Aaron Spelling: Aside from the few seconds where they played the theme song from Beverly Hills, 90210, this whole segment was just awful. And was most definitely not helped by the Charlie's Angels appearance at the end of it.

To wrap: i heart kiefer! I really do! God bless you for making me proud. All hail to Kiefer and the coolest tv show ever. EVER. Jack Bauer f-ing rocks.

everyday women

Rule #1: Never make someone's little midwestern mom cry on national tv. So not cool. I don't give a rat's behind about your dumb excuses of being a recovering alcoholic/druggie. And I don't care that I happen to agree with you that Angela is a pain in the butt. You still have no right to make her mom cry! Yeah Jeffrey, you're a JERK.

Yeah, so for the record - not a fan of the idiots on Project Runway that seem to think it is okay to make other contestants' moms cry and then not even apologize for their behavior! Totally distacted me from the fact that crazy Vincent actually won the challenge and that boring Robery got sent home. Seriously - Vincent actually WON!

pink!

I spent a good portion of today at work putzing around with my blog and adjusting the colors. My guess is nobody notices the difference though because pink is pink to most people, but to me, pink comes in about 100 shades of pink. The other thing I did with my very limited html skills is add the "Blogs and Stuff" section which is off to the right. It's basically just a laundry list of sites and blogs that entertain me. Some authored by friends, others by people I can only wish were my friends. Either way, I read them regularly, so go ahead and take a peek, maybe you'll find something you like :)

And if you have a blog I'm not reading, it's probably just cuz I don't know about it! So clue me in, I'm always looking for reading materials to entertain me!

ps - just discovered an INSANELY addicting game called Guess-the-Google. It's quite a stumper, and a great time killer if you are procrastinating as I always am!

racists!

Okay, so I stopped watching Survivor at least 28 seasons ago, but have recently learned about the gimmick for their upcoming Survivor: Cook Islands season and you know what? As God awful of a gimmick as it is, it worked, because I am totally going to watch! You want to know why? Because some GENIUS at CBS thought it would be a good idea to form tribes divided based on ethnicity. That's right, you heard me -- it's going to be the African-Americans vs. the Hispanics vs. the Asian-Americans vs. the Caucasians. i couldn't make this stuff up if i tried. Reality tv has officially hit an all-time politically incorrect low. If there's no backlash now for this kind of gimmick yet, there sure as hell is going to be!

As outraged as I want to be, who am I kidding - I'm going to watch and I'm going to think it's hysterical. I just hope the Republicans find it as entertaining as I know it's going to be. Especially since I'm relatively sure I'll be rooting for the cute boys -- regardless of which tribe they're on!

btw - The Wizard of Oz episode of Scrubs was on tonight - so much fun!

garbage!

Yes, they used garbage to make clothes on Project Runway! To their defense though, it was recyclable garbage, not like nasty, people's-leftover-dinner-mixed-with-diapers garbage. So peanut sacks, cardboard boxes, plastic bottles and mylar strips. Considering the quality of the materials they have to use this week, I am mildly impressed that everyone came up with anything at all that would stay put on the model. Sadly though, Vincent's is a stretch as far as impressiveness goes, since his model looks like she's trying to navigate down the runway with a cardboard tube wrapped around her - a mighty ugly tube at that. But even more sadly, cute little Alison gets Auf Wiedersen'ed and crazy Vincent gets to stay. WTF?!

Season premiere of Laguna Beach: I already hate Kyndra and Cami, and am mildy amused by the fact that Jessica and company are still ever present on the show, especially knowing the drama that will ensue with the Kyndra-Cameron-Jessica love triangle. Gotta love high school drama. The boys are cute but could be cuter. Especially Chase - he reminds me of scruffy Jason. Breanna is nowhere as cute as her big sister, but I'll let her slide because quite frankly, a lot of the girls leave something to be desired this season as far as I'm concerned. blah.

a new generation

Given that I've spent so much time talking about Lauren and Jason in The Hills, what better time than now to start getting excited about the new season of Laguna Beach that is starting this week? Especially with the Laguna Beach marathon that has been going on this weekend, which I have been watching while sorting through all my belongings, trying to determine what will go with my to my new home and what will get tossed.

Being as attached as I've become to the season 1 and 2 cast though, does season three of LB have any chance of meeting expectations? We're talking about a brand new set of high schoolers I will need to become acquainted with here! A new cast to love and to hate! I've become terribly attached to Lauren, I don't think she can be replaced! And one can only hope that any of the characters have fun names like Dieter and Talan. What the heck ever happened to those guys anyway?

Btw, new season of Weeds starts this week also for those of you with Showtime. If you missed season one, you have no idea what kind of entertainment you missed out on. Mary Louise Parker is a classic in this series. And how can you not love the tagline for the show: "Putting the herb in suburb." haha!

back to life

The Canadians have gone back to Canadia. And now it's back to my regular routine. Well, as regular as it can be while trying to get a grip on the insanity at work and doing this real estate thing. BUT, that doesn't mean there isn't time for tv!

The Season Finale of The Hills: I canNOT believe Lauren did not go to Paris!!! wtf! And for a douchebag like Jason?! Unacceptable. Although, I suppose if she didn't stay, there wouldn't be a season two of The Hills, and oh yeah there is going to be a season two! Filiming is underway.

Project Runway: Scandalous. Good riddance to Keith. And Angela winning the challenge - wtf? No seriously. You DID see the space outfit she made the week before, right? The one with the poufy silver skirt with her "signature rosettes"? Oye.

And... that's it. Is there anything else on?

hot hot hot

This weather is insane. My days have been insane as well. Last week ended with a tumultuous journey to and from St. Louis, and I felt like I had been hit by a truck at the end of it all. Ask yourself this question: How long does it take to get from St. Louis to New York via plane? The correct canswer is 13. Yes, THIRTEEN hours was my journey home. Fabulous. Arrived home past 3am on thursday night/friday morning after heading to the airport in St. Louis around 2pm on thursday afternoon. Good times. Friday I slept until about 11am due to the drama of traveling, and tried to squeeze in as much sleep as possible given the upcoming weekend.

Spent the weekend up in New England: Friday night at Mohegan Sun, Saturday at Six Flags, Saturday Night at Foxwoods (wampum wampum!) and Sunday back to NY. Talk about major exhaustion, but the Six Flags water park was super fun! And what's not to love about dippin' dots and fried dough?

And now...it's just hot. HOT. Hot like I think I am going to melt into the sidewalk everytime I go outside. It's the Canadians' final week in the States, so once they are gone I can catch up on life and tv again. Though I did make them watch last week's Project Runway with me last night, which was super fun with the puppies! Tonight is the scandal episode where someone gets booted without even making a garment. It's also the season finale of The Hills! Another show lost for the rest of the summer, as if I have any other shows to watch in it's place. Summer tv, not so good.
