Vegas baby!

Vegas tomorrow! In 24 hours I will be enroute to the funnest weekend of the year in one of the funnest cities ever! My productivity level is officially shot, though one could argue that it has been all week anyway. It's been quite an adventurous week, despite all the rain. Last weekend was spent running around in the rain doing a plethora of activities and scouring real estate. Yesterday I got attacked by a hailstorm trying to get home from work. This week I am closer to becoming a responsible home owner. So scary! It is frightening to think that someone is actually going to let me own property, haha! Found a super condo that I love though, with its only downfall being that it's a little further from the subway than my lazy ass wanted to have to walk everyday. But I love enough other things about the place to suck it up and not be a lazy piece of crap - I could use the exercise anyway. (Remind me I said that this winter when it's -10 degrees out and the snow's up to my waist.)

Nothing much new to report in tv land. Entourage continues to be perfectly entertaining and The Hills continues to be fabulous, though Jason's looking a little extra scruffy these days. Caught a few minutes of the new reality show Treasure Hunters and it was totally lame, so I will not be adding that to my DVR schedule as originally planned. There is NOTHING ELSE ON TV. Which is actually good, cuz it gives me more time for baseball (Subway Series tonight!), real estate activities, and VEGAS!! VEGAS BABY! This will probably be the last trip I take for a while, as I will hopefully soon become a responsible and poor home owner. So I plan on enjoying this trip a LOT. Oh what a debacle Vegas will be. The fun that will be had! 99! DRINK BITCH!

I'm officially going on blog-vacation til after I get back from Vegas next week. Not like there's much to discuss from a tv realm anyway. But don't hold your breath waiting to hear Vegas stories, because what happened in Vegas...never happened. Happy 4th to all!

unwritten

I've said it before, I'll say it again - The Hills is fabulous! Managed to sneak it into my schedule last night after another evening of looking at real estate. So entertaining to have Jason back in the picture, and to see "Lauren and Jason, Part Two" play out. They are still most definitely a weird couple, but I love it anyway!

delinquency

I have most definitely been a delinquent when it comes to both tv watching (lots of other things to do) and writing about my tv watching (work's actually been busy! go figure). The new reality show that's an Amazing Race knockoff started and I totally missed it, never even got around to setting my DVR to record it. My DVR list is kind of skimpy these days, there's not much being recorded other than Entourage (fantastic) and The Hills (fabulous). Other than that it's only watching baseball, socializing at bars, or scoping out real estate. It's going to be a busy summer, and for once, it is NOT because of tv!

that was one big magnet

My new location at work is an icebox. Which doesn't really help the cranky factor. I've been slightly "off" all week so far, and I'm not exactly sure why. I'm just not a happy camper for whatever reason. That being said, I'm proud to report that I actually DID finally watch the season finale of Lost this weekend. Although someone probably should have warned me that it wasn't meant to be watch at 10am on a saturday morning when I was just getting my day started. Because it left me disturbed and mildly confused for most of the remainder of the afternoon. Actually, very confused. It's no wonder that by 2 in the afternoon, I was drinking.

I had lots of thoughts while watching Lost, most of which I don't think I can remember now. But for instance, isn't it funny how the sight of a sailboat can totally distract people from the fact that they are at a funeral? What makes Sawyer think he can get away with saying stupid words like "jibber jabber"? Why did Libby think her dead husband would want her to give the boat he named after her to a complete stranger? Why do I suddenly find Desmond to be incredibly creepy? Could Michael be a worse liar? And a bigger sellout? Man, that was one strong-ass magnet. I don't know what Jack's "plan" actually was supposed to be, but it sucked. Henry is a bad ass. And a mighty creepy one at that. And the dudes in the snow blizzard with their version of the bleeping machine? The ones that call up Desmond's lady friend in the middle of the night? What's up with them? What? I have to wait til next season to find out? Bullsh*t.

random snippets

It is friday and it's been a long cranky week, so in protest of work, I choose to blabber. Entourage has been getting a lot of press the past couple of days, and with good reason - Season 3 kicks off this weekend! I know, I keep talking about this show. I can't get enough of it.

Anyway, I happened upon something strangely entertaining this morning:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eat-the-press/
On the left there is the HuffPo's People Ranker. You pick a category (I like Celebrities myself), and then enter the names of any random celebrities you want, and the graph calculates popularity for the week based on how many blog mentions that celebrity has gotten. Pure entertainment and I don't even know why.

In reality tv news, Donald Trump is coming out with a new show called Monopoly...and yes, he's working with Hasbro and it's just like the board game. Is anyone surprised that Trump would come out with a real estate based show?

I've been informed of a new Amazing Race-like reality show called Treasure Hunters, from the producers of Project Runway. Sweet! http://www.nbc.com/Treasure_Hunters/index.shtml
I especially love how some of them, rather than just using their actual names (e.g., "Team Fogal Family"), have tagged themselves with nicknames, like "Team Geniuses" haha! It premieres June 18th, you all know whats going on my DVR list next!

I am going to try my damnedest to finally watch Lost this weekend. No guarantees though, because...well, I'm just not that reliable.

rain out

Red Sox-Yankees got rained out yesterday, so I though perhaps that meant I might actually get to go home and watch actual television! Maybe even the season finale of Lost that I have yet to see! But alas, I ended up drinking at the bar across the street from my office...again. By the time I got home, I just didn't have the energy for tv, only caught a few minutes of So You Think You Can Dance as I was flipping through the channels and watched a tearful exit from the auditions by a girl on crutches who apparently hurt her foot while dancing and couldn't continue. And that was that.

Since I have no tv to talk about, I think I'll just rant about other random things. Such as the sad state of affairs that is known as the largest public school system in the country where I work:
http://www.amny.com/news/local/am-teach0607,0,6890300.story?coll=am-local-headlines

These are the people that are training the future of our country. awesome.

Other random observations, made during my commute to work this morning:
- Woman sitting across from me on the subway that was plucking her eyebrows. Who does that on the train? Is that even safe? One jerk of the train and you're sure to lose an eye I think.
- Man standing on the subway wearing a charcoal gray pinstriped suit...with a turquoise polo shirt. First of all, the color scheme was just atrocious. And really now, who wears polo shirts with a suit?
- Lady who was so badly fake tanned that aside from the fact that her face was almost the same shade of orange as the Mets logo, one leg was about four shades of orange darker than her other leg. If you're going to be so fake tanned that it's obvious, at least make it an even fake tan!

In my new temporary home on the 4th floor at work, I am now at least 3 times further from the bathroom than I was when I was up on the 6th floor. Not cool. I also am no longer near any windows so there could be a tornado going on outside right now for all I know. awesome!

i heart melky

I fully realize this is not a sports blog, but even non-yankees fans have to appreciate Melky's crazy catch that robbed Manny of a homerun yesterday. Great baseball. And almost even more entertaining was Damon celebrating in the outfield when Melky made the catch - he was practically doing cartwheels! You can't not love the hilariousness of it all. The replay is all over the sports reels, take a look if you didn't see it, cuz it was crazy! And now I'll stop my baseball ranting.

It's moving day at work as they are getting ready to demolish the floor I'm sitting on to build the new service center for our project. But we're moving down the 4th floor, which becomes the OTHER part of the new service center, which means that once the 6th floor is completed, we have to move AGAIN so they can demolish and build the 4th floor. And of course nothing is ever easy around here, so there's no logistical sense to how we are moving in the first place, and at the moment about 80% of my belongings are already downstairs on the 4th floor, but I am still sitting up here with 20% of my belongings and an empty room. If someone tries to call me right now, my phone will ring down on the 4th floor. But if you email me, I'll get the email right now on my computer that's still up here on the 6th floor. brilliant!

summer tv

I didn't think this show was even on anymore, but apparently it is and still making new episodes. Tonight launches a new season of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy - Vegas style. Do people still watch this? Is it still any good? Things that make you go, hmmm.

The British kid won Apprentice last night apparently. I say apparently because I didn't actually watch but saw a headline for it online today. I tried really really hard to stick with that show, but just got too bored with it to watch the last couple of episodes. Who thought that even *I* would someday be sick of reality tv?

I was getting sad about the lack of tv for the summer, or at least the lack of decent tv, but I did a little research and there will be at least a few decent things to tide me ove after all!

Weeds - Season 2 starts August 14. If you missed season one, go find it and watch it. then watch season two when it starts. It's about a single suburban soccer mom who sells pot to support her family. totally hilarious.

Entourage - Yes! It's back! Soon! Like June 11th soon. Rumor has it one of the boys gets himself a little menage a trois action this season. One of many reasons to watch.

The Hills - This has actually started already. It's a spinoff of Laguna Beach, so if you watched that, you have to watch The Hills. You will love it, whether you want to or not.

Project Runway - I mentioned this one already, but I love it enough to mention it again. July 12. Set your DVRs.

i need a nap

No tv updates to report. Except that a new season of Project Runway starts next month, yay! And I still have not yet watched the season finale of Lost. Or anything else that might be rotting away on my DVR at this point. It's a moot point because my brain is mush today due to the lack of sleep and abundance of alcohol that ensued during my weekend roadtrip. To sum up my weekend: 99. Burritos. Baseball. Shots. Stump the Schwab. Spelling Bee. Baseball. Not enough sleep. Okay, not necessarily in that order. But that about covers it and I don't feel the need to go into details. Drinking games til 3am sounded like a good idea at the time. but now i need a nap.

Big scary Red Sox - Yankees series this week, so tv is a wash. sorry kids.

foiled again!

Managed to get home tonight RIGHT before it started monsooning outside. whew, close call. While flipping through channels between half innings of baseball, landed on Gameshow Marathon AGAIN, except this time I saw them playing Let's Make a Deal, once again hosted by Ricki Lake, Lance Bass dressed up as a giant banana and Leslie Nielson dressed as a doctor with a cowboy hat...wtf?

So happy to have friday off from work, and to start my weekend roadtrip, so I'll be on a tv break til at least next week. Red Sox come into town on Monday though so I can't guarantee much in the way of tv commentary. later skater.
