lets not ruin it by saying something stupid

Off day for the Yankees so I finally watched the season finale of 24. And I'm kind of left wondering... what's next?

So in hour one, everyone opts to not listen to Kiefer and AS USUAL they are all WRONG. So Doyle gets a fake chip blown up in his face and Dad's henchmen haul Josh off in an inflatable motor boat. But kudos to Buchanan and Karen Hayes for being the only ones to be smart enough to all kinds of risk their sanity to back up Kiefer. Oh yeah, and Milo's much better looking brother shows up to claim his stuff. and then hour one ends with Chloe mysteriously fainting. How un-Chloe-like.

Hour Two: Buchanan and Kiefer hijack a helicopter (Kiefer's not the only one that knows how to operate every single piece of vehicular-like machinery he enters) and go off to some random oil platform in the middle of the ocean and not only saves Josh but captures the Chinese bad guy as well! And then they escape the platform just in time to have the thing get blown up, along with Dad and the circuit board, by a pretty intense air strike. Keifer decides to hop into the ocean rather than hitching a ride back to CTU and very coincidentally ends up somewhere long the beach shore that is right by Secretary Heller's... beach house? No clue how the hell Kiefer knew where this was. But in any case, he gets to see Audrey and basically breaks up with her while she is sleeping. Nice, Kiefer. Season six ends with Kiefer walking into Heller's backyard and staring sadly into the sunrise. And don't tell me that you didn't also think for a moment that he was going to jump off the cliff for a suicidal conclusion to the season! Oh, and Chloe? PREGNANT! Seriously.

So that's a wrap. Yes, there WILL be a season seven but not til January '08! Whew.

Oh yes, I also watched some of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. These kids are amazing! Well, except for the poor kid that went first, spent two minutes saying the word "girolle" over and over and over and asking for the definition and origin multiple times and then with 11 seconds left spelled it wrong anyway because he kept pronouncing the word wrong. awww.

slowly but surely

So it's a week after the fact and I have yet to watch the season finales of 24 or Lost. I know, I know, I need to be more on top of my tv, but I spent very little of my long weekend in front of the tv (weather was too nice!) and it's not like I'm REALLY behind since all my shows have ended and there's no more episodes to get backlogged on. So little by little I WILL get through all my tv shows.

I DID manage to sneak in the season finale of Desperate Housewives on Monday night (yes, also a week after the fact) and boy it was a good one! Lynette's got cancer ad her crazy mom shows up, Gabby gets duped into marrying the politician and is so pissed off about it that she decides to make out with Carlos at her wedding reception, who is also very pissed that Edie duped him into having sex with her. Susan and Mike FINALLY get married and that is pretty much the only happy ending story of this episode. Bree returns looking very pregnant but turns out to only be pretending to be pregnant to cover for her delinquent teenage daughter who got knocked up by Edie's nephew and is now in a hideaway nunnery waiting to give birth to a baby that they'll then pretend belonged to Bree. Oh, and speaking of Edie? She totally hangs herself after Carlos dumps her! Granted it was with a very dainty looking silk scarf and I don't really see how that could hold her weight but well, you know.

an excellent evening

In a most exhausting week where I have just spent three nights in a row at Yankee Stadium, tv has not really been high on my priority list for no real reason other than the fact that I just haven't spent very much time at home and when I AM home I'm dead tired and sleeping. However, I did manage to speed my way through the American Idol finale since I figured I would hear about it otherwise and wanted to find out who won.

In an unprecedented turn of events, this season's finale was actually worth watching! Some highlights:
- The Top Six guys performing with Smokey Robinson in snazzy all white outfits.
- Blake doing a BAD ASS beatboxing performance with Doug E Fresh! Friggin' awesome.
- Super adorable Carrie Underwood doing a way-better-than-the-original rendition of I'll Stand By You.
- The Top Six Gals performing with Gladys Knights, also all in snazzy all white outfits.
- Jordin singing a FAB duet with Rooooooo-bin of one of my all time favorite classic songs, You're All I Need.
- The Beatles Medley with a bunch of former Idols and this season's top 12.

The lowlights:
- Sanjaya actually got his on frickin' performance. Seriously.
- Kelly Clarkson's crazy outfits and way overdone eye makeup, though to her credit, she sounds great.
- Taylor Hicks got to perform twice. What's up with that?
- BETTE MIDLER? And not just Bette Midler, but Bette Midler singing Wind Beneath My Wings of all things?!?

Oh yeah, and so I finally get through the two hour finale (with some FF-ing involved of course), only to find out that the Fox producers f*ed up and the show ran over by 10 minutes or so, and you know what that means? I didn't actually get to see who won! It made it all the way through the Beatles medley, goes to commercial, and then never comes back because 10pm rolled around and my DVR stopped recording! DAMN YOU FOX. So thank you to Kingston for informing me who the winner was (even though I would've found out the next morning who it was anyway, but at least I slept better that night).

And that's a wrap til I can catch up on the rest of this week's tv!

i screwed up!

So for the first time in my DVRing career, I messed up. I set all these things to record on Saturday, left to go to Shea Stadium for the Subway Series, and came back home to discover that the stuff I was recording on Saturday required more space than I anticipated and erased most of what I had recorded during the week. Luckily, I had already watched most of the shows that were erased. Not so luckily, I had not yet watched the season finale of The Office and that got erased too :( Boo. The only thing that got salvaged was the season finale of Scrubs, which I had already watched Saturday morning before leaving my apartment, so that really didn't do me much good *sigh*

Oh well, it looks to be a pretty nice day out today (unlike the freezing cold, rainy and windy four hours I spent at Shea yesterday wishing I had gloves with me - luckily a) our seats were covered so we got to stay dry, and b) we got free beer!) so I'm off to... New Jersey!

battle of the accents

I am surprisingly up to date on tv vs. my usual being almost a week behind! So continuing May Sweeps, this week was the finale of America's Next Top Model. In the first half hour we go from three to two by cutting off white girl Renee (but not before she made a brilliantly funny comment about Natasha walking "like a pigeon-ted duck with a boot up her ass" HAHA) and then it comes down to jazzy size negative 4 Jaslene (look, I know I'm skinny but this girl is a STICK) and can't-speak-English-properly Natasha (Hispanic vs. Russian) and THANK GOD Jaslene wins because Natasha drives me bonkers. Another show over and done, which means I'm another step closer to a tv-free(ish) summer!

and then there were two.

So after a weekend of margaritas, socializing, and cupcake making, I am mostly caught up on tv - as one of what amounts to probably about two people still watching The Bachelor, I found myself wondering how I missed most of the season and there were suddenly only three girls left, even when I've been recording every episode. I guess I wasn't watching all that carefully. So after hometown dates in Hawaii and the usual fantasy suite invitations (abc needs to come up with something a little ore creative), we are back to the rose ceremony, and it's bye-bye to Danielle, which is fine with me because she wasn't all that memorable anyway. So the final two are Bevin, who I find a bit irritating and Tessa, who I think is adorable and I hope she wins!

As for American Idol, we also go from three to two this week! Each contestant sings three songs and they are all fab for different reasons.

Round 1 was the judges' choice: All three of them rocked it, but Doolittle wins round 1 due to a crazy fantastic rendition of Whitney Houston (nice pick, Randy).

Round 2 was the producers' choice: Another fab round but I especially loved Blake in this round because he sang Maroon 5 and I loved it!! And could he be any more adorable? Round 2 goes to Blake!

Round 3 was the contestants' pick: Yet another lovely round and at this point, I have no clue who I think will win (though I did vote for MY pick) because everyone is great!

On to elimination night:

Lots of recapping to show how we ended up at the final three, a plug for the AI Tour, Elliott Yamin looking like a COMPLETELY different person with his big hair, Maroon 5 (yay!), and then first Jordin makes it through to the finals and then OHMYGOD Blake makes it in!! Okay seriously, nothing against Doolittle at all, she is FAB and will no doubt go on to bigger and better things, but you know how much I love Blake so there you've got it -- Jordin vs. Blake in the final two. Whew, good thing I voted ;)

the man behind the curtain

So there's only a couple episodes of Lost left for the season, but the plan is for abc to do THREE more seasons, with sixteen episodes a season. That is a lot of freakin' Lost and quite frankly, I think it's more than anyone needs. Last week Lost consisted of the history of Ben and how that his made him so crazy that when he goes to introduce Locke to Jacob the leader, he turns out to be IMAGINARY. Crazy, much?

And on 24 the Chinese bad guys sneak into CTU via the sewer system and all kinds of people get shot down, including Milo. Sorry Nadia. Keifer's dad has made a return as an accomplice of the chinese bad guys, and I still would like to know what the heck ever happened to Logan and crazy Martha?

stayin' alive... or not.

I'm not really sure what the theme on American Idol is this week (disco? ballad?), but it's a bad one -- and I don't particularly love ANY of the performances and it's very difficult to identify who's stayin' alive and who's goin' home this week. I can't really get over how generally terrible everyone sounds overall and these songs were just not very fun at all.

So it's down to beat boxing Blake and the three divas and after lots of fluff, a cameo by Jessica Alba (!), REALLY bad group singing, a very random performance by Pink, a very WEIRD performance by Barry Gibb and some (lots of) other junk... my adorable Blake is spared another week and it's bye-bye Lakisha. Was hoping she'd plant another smacker on Simon before departing, but no such luck. darn.

oh, and the yanks are FINALLY back up to .500! whew.

the Rocket's back!

An otherwise mundane weekend ended on a high note with news of Clemens returning to the Yankees (yaaay!) and Eric and Danielle winning the All Stars edition of Amazing Race - also yay! Not that I loved Eric and Danielle, but I very much did not like Charla and Mirna and the beauty queesn just sort of annoyed the crap out of me the last few episodes. And all in all, it very much pleased me to watch Rob and Amber stand there with forced grins on their face, because you know they were all kinds of pissed off to have not made it very far in the race, as well as have another couple who met on a reality show steal their thunder. HA!

And with that, it's just the beginning of May Sweeps, lots more to come this month!!

beat box lives on.

The Yankees game officially got rained out, and so here I am watching the AI elimination episode. TWO people going home tonight! Lots of filler in the first half hour recapping performances and last week's Idol Gives Back special, and then just like that it's bye-bye Phil. And during his bye-bye montage I have decided that I am quite a huge fan of Carrie Underwood's I'll Stand By You. Hmm, might have to make an iTunes run for that one. Back to the show... some more fluff, a super cool Bon Jovi performance and then peace out JT (Chris)! I am sad indeed to see him go, but since it came down to him and Blake and I think I would have slit my wrists if it as Blake that got sent hoe, I'm okay with the results.

And just like that *poof* we've gone from 6 to 4.

just one of those weeks

Work's been the death of me, and combined with the debacle last night of me breaking my key and getting locked out of my apartment... well it's just been that sort of week and that's why my tv watching has been lacking. However, I'm currently waiting out a rain delay with the Yankees game, so it seemed like a good time to catch up a bit on American Idol for the week.

So it's Bon Jovi week, we're down to six, and this is what we've got:
- Phil sings first but I totally missed it because I got a phone call and talked through the entire thing, then couldn't be bothered to rewind and rewatch.
- Jordin sings Livin' on a Prayer and it actually made me cringe to listen to her, because it was not good, which is sad because I love her! I've got my fingers crossed that he squeaks through.
- Lakisha: eh. Sort of not memorable at all, pretty mediocre. The most entertaining part was AFTER her performance when she gives Simon a big smooch!
- Blake died his hair BLACK and did the most F-ING AWESOME rendition of You Give Love a Bad Name and it ROCKS. LOVE HIM!
- So Chris aka the local JT Wannabe sings what one would perceive as pretty decent version of Wanted Dead or Alive, but unfortunately since he went right after Blake, I was just sort of "eh" about it.
- So are we sure Melinda isn' already a professional singer? Because she is ridiculously good and I'm all abut Melinda and Blake as the final two!

And Simon must be in a good ole smoochy mood this week, because Paula gets a smooch too!
